The Merry Gentry series is a very popular supernatural/crime series of books by Laurell K Hamilton.  Meredith Gentry or Meredith NicEssus just happens to be a Princess of the high court of Faerie, who was posing as a human in Los Angeles, living as a P.I. specializing in supernatural crime.  Why was she hiding? Her Aunt, the High Queen of Air and Darkness wanted her dead.  But now apparently Queen Andais has changed her mind and has declared Merry the next Queen, if she can produce an heir before her cousin Cel.  Merry now has two choices:  enjoy the constant company of the most beautiful immortal men in the world, produce an heir, grab the Unseelie crown and continue to live.
