Fanlistings in General

"A fanlisting is a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor, actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject". You can visit the Fanlistings HQ by clicking here.

This Fanlisting

I have always been a fan of fantasy and with role playing whether it was playing dungeons and dragons with my brother in the woods behind our house with wooden swords and glitter which acted as spells...or at a table top with a big group of friends. Dungeons and Dragons is just plain fun and I was surprised to see that there wasn't a fanlisting out there for it.  So voila, the girl gamer within reared her pretty head and started with the planning. The work in progress is what you see now.

If you too are a fan of Dungeons and Dragons then read through the rules (especially if you're unsure about the whole fanlisting process), grab  a lovely code (if you have a website. If you don't, you can skip that bit), and fill out the join form.

This is version 1.0, the gang is all here showing the delightful classes we all know and love.

Dungeons and Dragons?

Dungeons and Dragons is a Fantasy Role-Playing Game wherein the participants take on the roles of characters that they create and define, and use those characters to create fantastic adventures in an imaginary world.

Still confused? Basically a game of D&D consists of the Dungeon Master, and several players.  The DM's job, or the guy or gal you love and hate, is to be the storyteller and referee of the game. It's them who sets the stage for the game.  Now the players on the other hand are the actors and they each take on the role of a character he or she has created for the game.

Each player starts the game with character that he or she has created from scratch. This involves rolling dice to determine physical attributes such as Strength, Constitution and Dexterity, and die rolls to determine less material attributes such as Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. Without going into a lot of rules and details, these attributes, which help to define the character, are also influenced by race and class choices made by the player.

The emphasis in most D&D campaigns is on plot, character development, solving puzzles, and interaction with the other players in the game through in-character dialogue. In almost every case, each player is out to improve his character's lot in life, have some great adventures and save the world from time to time. It is a game that carries far more weight and enjoyment than conventional board games. Hungry, hungry Hippo this is not.

It's fun stuff and I can recall on the many happy evenings and afternoons where you are sitting with a group of friends, joking, laughing, and saving the world from some really evil guy.
