Originally For the Birds was shown before the animated film Monsters Inc in 2000.  The short starts off with a bunch of small birds all perched together on a telephone wire.  When a much larger and awkward looking bird arrives, the smaller birds reject him with taunts and insults.  Still, our odd duckling persists in trying to win their friendship until at last the smaller birds decide to shove him from their wire perch. Except they don't really think about the ramifications of such a plan until it's too late.
